We all enjoyed this book … apart from the smallish print. Lots of twists and turns and likeable and unlikeable characters which makes a good read.

Clever construction of the plot, but implausible.

Mixed opinions, but on the whole everyone read the book from beginning to end which doesn't always happen.

The eight members at our meeting enjoyed this fascinating read, which led to an interesting discussion on all topics arising in this book.

We all, bar one, loved this book! Very easy to read, couldn't wait to get home and keep reading. Most of us read it quickly and early on in the month. There was a lot going on and some who weren't reading it in one go found it hard to figure out what had happened and who people were so had to keep going back over it. Good discussion - good book, thanks again.

We all found the print size/quality difficult to read. It was an easy book to read and quickly drew us into the story - but we found many aspects of the book ( the characters and the speed of events/emotional processing) unbelievable. We all thought it was an interesting plot for a novel, but too much was attempted in one book. There were various psychological anomalies, but we'd still recommend it to other book groups.

Everyone read it ( not always the case) and we had a lively discussion. Generally we found it a gripping plot with characters and events we could relate to, although there were some comments that occasionally plot elements seemed contrived. We had a good discussion about adoption issues.

There were varying opinions about this book. One member rating it very low and another high. An agreement was made to rate it at 3 1/2. Most people felt that it was a slow start and gained momentum as the story unfolded - some finding it compulsive reading. There was vibrant discussion re the many issues which arose. The notes were appreciated. The warning re the story spoilers was heeded. They were a good reference during the discussion.

We all enjoyed the book, but thought all the characters, bar one, were psychologically damaged in some way.

A good read - a page turner with complicated characters and a tragic story. Our group debated the fantasy/reality of the characters and the resolution of the plot. The notes were great - but don't read them until you have finished the book.
