Enjoyed by all in the group. The descriptive prose put us all right there with Mercy. A light hearted book that was also able to throw a light on the deeper subjects of grief, divorce, anxiety and agoraphobia. |

All enjoyed the book. We learned a lot about the condition of agoraphobia as Mercy went on her epic journey to cure herself. The right amount of intrigue and good storytelling. |

Whilst we all enjoyed the book, we felt it was somewhat light and it did not generate much discussion. More of a 'holiday' read. |

Some of our group found the story to be a bit flat and unbelievable during the initial part, but as the story progressed they enjoyed it more. We felt that it was a good depiction of anxiety and grief. It was interesting discussing the last question (10) re indigenous peoples and places, and we noted that she was helped on two occasions by indigenous people - finding her dog and fixing her van. |

We all really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it. The characters were likeable and relatable and the messages about anxiety and effects of social media were strong and important. |

Group generally engaged with the novel and LOTS of discussion arose from the themes. The concept of agoraphobia was new to us, and we enjoyed our journey with Mercy, and we admired her courage and resourcefulness. |

The writing was superb in places, especially the passage at the top of page 166, very evocative and profound. A magical, although painful, journey. Lots of metaphors, some needing to be searched for but appreciated. An interesting array of characters, all contributing to the story. It was amazing how the character was able to achieve so much given her fraught upbringing. Enjoyed and appreciated by all. |

An interesting read - the mental health theme , Mercy's agoraphobic anxiety. It felt real and the descriptions very believable. She may not have changed without the housefire. It was interesting as we learnt more about her, her marriage, her mother, her work. The plot held our interest. Wasabi added character. |

Half the group was not initially inspired to read it due to style and content. They persevered and the group enjoyed the discussion, which included watching Mercy's growth. Some were disappointed with the ending and wished Mercy had returned to her medical practice from a pragmatic viewpoint - she had so much to offer. |
