Description:
|
After decades studying some of our nearest relatives - chimpanzees and bonobos - renowned animal scientist Frans de Waal is well qualified to discuss sex and gender. In this informative and entertaining foray into the gender debate, he explores the complexity of sex and social behaviour of these anthropoid apes, and compares them with humans.
Challenging our attitudes and assumptions about sex and gender, this is a fascinating read, offering a clear, non-judgemental view of an often contentious issue.

The group enjoyed this book and found it interesting. The information was not all that new, but the way it was put together and the anecdotes made it worth reading. However it was rather repetitive and often too detailed. |

Very varied views on this book - one thought it the best book she had read in a while and she read it in 3 days! Three of us just couldn't get into it and gave up totally. Made for a good discussion. |

Thought that some of the group may have found it provocative but discussion was good. Great book that everyone should read. |
