Enjoyed the conversational style of book, and the little "training bag" quotes at the end of chapters.

So many different and strong views on this book! One member felt it was indulgent and poorly written, others thought it spot on and using a dialect spot on. Very insightful and of course brought out opinions in the group about female toughness, abuse and what we tolerate in the guise of bravado. A beautiful story, of a national treasure able to portray first hand the positioning of womens' rugby.

An easy read, which made for interesting and stimulating discussion within our group. We were inspired by Tui's positivity throughout her life.

Unanimous 5 from everyone. Even those who aren't rugby fans have fallen in love with rugby. Her resilience, hard work, dedication and humour captured our hearts.

All agreed Ruby was a very motivated and most inspirational young woman. A book to be enjoyed by all, but especially good for young readers.

As none of the group are rugby fans, this book had less appeal. Ruby's determination though was admirable. We also think this book is for a young audience, and could do with a good edit to remove the repetitions.

The Group loved the first half of this book, though half lost interest in the second half, mainly due to not having an interest in rugby. She does have an inspiring story though.

Easy to read and accessible - got to know who Ruby Tui is. Learnt lots about rugby - we'd all recommend it, especially to younger people. A great discussion book, and a great introduction to a sports memoir, a world we know almost nothing about...

Excellent, inspirational read. A true Kiwi heroine. A battler. Written in her voice and hard to put down.

Our group liked the insight to Samoan family life. Lost interest a little in the later chapters where there was more about rugby.

All thoroughly enjoyed the book. A real eye opener. We found some areas repetitive as to how people can succeed, and some members didn't enjoy the writing style.

We were all agreed that Ruby Tui is a most remarkable person, and greatly admired the way she has overcome adversity and what was at times an extremely difficult childhood. We likewise were very struck with her choice to give back, to try to help other people struggling with the issues she confronted. The book considered as a book was ok, but it was really the life behind it that we responded to. In sum, we responded to her and her message, but the book as a book - not quite so much.

Wonderful book. All of us were overwhelmed with the emotions we felt as we experienced the highs and lows of Ruby's life. As one reviewer said, "A phenomenal book from a professional athlete"!!!

We really liked this book, and several with older grand-daughters were resolved to buy it for them. A real upward lift - a 'value of positivity and purpose story'. GREAT!
