Description: 'Doctor-lawyer-disability advocate-researcher'. This list in itself is impressive, but Dinesh Palipana can also add, 'has quadriplegia'. A car accident while in medical school resulted in a spinal cord injury that profoundly changed his life, but persistence and resilience along with the support of family and friends win out: Dinesh is now practising in one of Australia's busiest hospitals.

Refreshingly honest and written with passion and humour, this is the inspiring memoir of a man who doesn't take 'can't' as an answer.

Not a great insight into living with disability. Lack of depth. Interesting that he felt the cold due to his disability.

A most inspiring autobiography. Loved by the whole group, and for some, it was the best book they have read!

The group found this young man to show strength and determination that was admirable. The quality most acknowledged was hope! His ability to constantly overcome discrimination, adversity in many forms, and keep moving on his own journey was astounding. He didn't carry any ill feelings towards anyone who had made his life difficult. He was compassionate and showed powerful strength of character. His obvious intellectual capacity was a huge asset for him in his endeavours. He had great clarity about his life which was inspirational to us all.

We found this story really inspiring, we admired Dinesh and his journey. We were disappointed that there wasn't a question about his wonderful mother, although he did acknowledge her.

The group agreed that they had enjoyed the book and had great admiration for the author's determination and tenacity. Some found the conversational style of writing a little tiresome.

Great read! Very inspiring account of a remarkable journey by an incredibly talented man who was able to turn a desperate situation into a positive experience. We all enjoyed learning about life in Sri Lanka too. Full of admiration for Dinesh's Mum - amazingly supportive!

We all agreed he was an amazing man - facing adversity, he just got on top of things. The fact is, it made him a better person and a better doctor.
