Description:

Before a life-altering accident in 2015, David Vass, one of New Zealand's pioneering mountaineers, had no reason to think his career as a mountain guide wouldn't continue ad infinitum. But a broken neck and incomplete tetraplegia put paid to this adventurous life in the great outdoors, forcing him to find new horizons.
In this lyrical memoir, he has found a different way to share this mountain life with others, extolling the joy of a deep connection with nature, and detailing many colourful climbing adventures.

A glossary of terms would have been useful, and maybe some photos. Very well-written. The irony of all the risk taking, then falling due to a broken tree root... Some of us found it too adrenalin charged to enjoy. |

We loved his writing, but were disappointed in there not being more about his recovery. It was a great insight into the mind of a mountaineer, which baffles most of us. Liked the section describing the different rock types. |

The full spectrum of opinions on this one. Some members really loved it, others did not relate to it at all. All agreed the writing was very good. There was good discussion about mountain climbing and the drive to do it, also life adjustment after injury. |
