Description: When Vicki and Billy meet and fall in love, the world is their oyster. Reflecting the author's own experiences, this is the raw and gripping story of a tumultuous relationship laid bare and a skilfully rendered portrayal of New Zealand over time.

Initially some of our group found the style of this book difficult but after some persuasion continued to read, and grew into the genre and the style to the point of rating the story highly.

The group did not like this book at all. The subject matter was too confronting as several members had family who are bipolar. They questioned why an author would write an autobiography and market it as a novel. The sarcastic pseudonyms given to real people in the story alienated the group even more from the author. Not many actually bothered to finish the story.

The essence of this book falls into place when you read the notes, and find out it is her story. Raises discussion about mental health in N.Z.
