In the world of 'get rich quick' schemes, the maxim ‘if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is' still applies, a truth that victims of one of the world's greatest conmen did not heed. In the 1970s and 80s, charismatic Ghanaian John Ackah Blay-Miezah operated a multi-million pound scam, not just in his own country but in the halls of power worldwide as well as with mum-and-dad investors. Riveting and eye-opening, this is the story of an audacious scammer, of greed and gullibility, the international movement of money, and where it all begins, in the nation of Ghana, pre and post colonisation.

Those that read it found it quite interesting, well-written. Others reported not being drawn to it, and couldn't get into it. For those who attended, discussion around the realisation that we knew very little about Ghana and its independence struggle from Britain, and the possible reasons why we may not have known and what we remembered hearing about Africa at that time. Also, on the author's writing on the history of scamming. |

Only a few read the entire book. Those that did were fascinated by the audacity, and admiring of the extensive research and powers of compilation of said research into an excellent story. |
