The book generated a lot of discussion. Suzie seemed to experience debilitating conditions at all stages of womanhood. We thought she was a great writer, and we particularly enjoyed reading about her wartime experiences. There was much discussion around her experience of the medical profession both in Scotland and in N.Z.

All enjoyed learning about the author, we all like her on the radio. More war experiences would have been appreciated but we admire her bravery, especially pushing through adverse health conditions.

The group found the book well-written, interesting and easy to read. Susie's honest account of how she faced so many challenges in a variety of settings as her life evolved, drew a picture of her determination and "bloody mindedness!"
