Description:

It should be, could be a power for good, but after years of working in the highest echelons of Facebook, New Zealander Sarah Wynn-Williams stops being a true believer and accepts that profit and greed will always be the order of the day for the tech giant. Citing among its many other misdemeanours, political interference, alignment with authoritarian regimes and a toxic workplace, this is a gripping exposé, a must-read whistle-blowing memoir that leaves you in no doubt the author has comprehensively unfriended Facebook.
Comments from BDS Reviewers:"This is a very well-written expose of Facebook (now Meta). Highly recommended".
"The book is also interesting in her account about personal issues - her own life and her attempts to balance crazy work expectations with becoming a parent".
"The author makes a compelling case for FB being amoral, greedy and complicit in helping corrupt governments".
"Very readable with nice short chapters and a nice "voice". She has quite a wry sense of humour".
"Her anecdotes and reporting all sound very believable, and she obviously had access to the highest level of information during her time at FB".
"It's defintely NOT a 'feel good' book. It's unsettling reading - no wonder that FB tried to block its publication".

This book should be compulsory reading for anyone using social media, including all family members. It is brutal in how Facebook is portrayed and the arrogance of those at the top. |
